VINS Nature Center Programs Honored as Celebrate Champlain Event |
|
June 15, 2009 - Quechee, VT - Daily live animal programs at VINS Nature Center in Quechee, VT have been designated by the Vermont Department of Marketing and Tourism as an official Celebrate Champlain event. Ongoing throughout 2009, Celebrate Champlain is the quadricentennial event celebrating the 400th anniversary of French explorer and cartographer Samuel de Champlain's travels to the lake that bears his name.
VINS daily animal programs share company with a wide array of activities planned to celebrate and commemorate the anniversary of this historic event, including French heritage festivals, art exhibits, bike and paddling tours, culinary events, history and natural history tours, interactive activities, cultural demonstrations and community fairs.
Daily live animal programs at VINS are offered seven days per week at 11:00 am and 3:30 pm with an additional program on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30pm. Animal programs may include birds, reptiles or amphibians. During live bird programs, VINS invites guests to explore the natural world through the eyes of live raptors. Bird programs cover topics ranging from mechanics of flight, seasonal migration and avian conservation issues to the extraordinary abilities and adaptations of raptors. Through these in-depth and interactive programs, visitors gain newfound knowledge and appreciation of what it takes to survive in the wild.
VINS Nature Center is open seven days per week through Labor Day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information about VINS live animal programs or a visit to VINS Nature Center, please visit www.vinsweb.org or call 802-359-5000.
Founded in 1972, The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is a non-profit member-supported environmental education, research and avian rehabilitation organization headquartered in Quechee, Vermont. VINS' mission is to motivate individuals and communities to care for the environment.
